Why does Give2 exist?

Give2 is part of our commitment to supporting Origin's people to make a difference in the community. We are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and strongly believe that we can help drive positive and sustainable changes in our local communities. We know that Origin's contribution to the community is important to you, and our employee research has told us that you want choice when it comes to donating to a charity. That's why we've partnered with Goodcompany to develop this website to make it easy for you to donate to the charity of your choice.

What's great about Give2?

Give2 is a one-stop-shop for workplace giving. We have responded to your feedback and introduced an 'open' model of workplace giving, which means you can donate to one or more of over 1000 charities.

Why should I donate through Give2?

Here are four key reasons to donate through Give2:

  1. 100% of your donation goes to your chosen charity. Origin Foundation covers the administration fees.
  2. It's tax effective - Give2 is a simple and tax effective way to donate to charity. You can make a once off or regular donation from your fortnightly or monthly pre-tax income, resulting in an automatic tax reduction. There's no need for you to worry about keeping receipts or to wait until the end of the financial year to obtain a tax benefit – the benefit is immediate through pre-tax giving.
  3. It offers flexibility and choice – Our employee research told us that you wanted choice when it comes to workplace giving. Through Give2 you can choose to support one or more of up to 1000 charities and hundreds of projects. It also offers you the flexibility to decide whether you want to give money once, or regularly, and whether you want to give to a specific project or to a general fund for your preferred charity.
  4. Origin Foundation will donate to your preferred charity – Origin Foundation will match your donations up to $8,000 per person per year.

Who has Origin Foundation partnered with to deliver Give2?

Which charities are on Give2?

Charities must meet certain criteria to join the program, including registration with the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Item 1 and Tax Concession Charity (TCC) status. You can check to see if a charity is DGR item 1 by searching here.

If your charity is not listed on the Give2 website and they meet the criteria, email the details to info@originfoundation.com.au and we will follow up with them to see if they are interested in joining.

Is there a fee for charities to participate in Give2?

There is a small annual fee for a charity to register with the Karma Currency Foundation, Goodcompany.

How can I be sure that the charity I'm giving to is legitimate?

Karma Currency Foundation and Goodcompany undertake due diligence for each charity listed on the Give2 website, including a check of their Deductible Gift Recipient and Tax Concession Charity status. It's always a good idea to research your chosen charities to ensure that you are comfortable with how they spend the funds.

Does 100% of my donation go directly to the charity?

Yes. 100% of your donation goes directly to charity. Origin Foundation covers all processing costs associated with Give2.

How long does it take for the charity to receive my donation?

Depending on the pay cycle, your donation will take approximately 21 working days.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

The minimum donation is $2 per pay.

Is there a maximum donation amount?

No, however your pay needs to be able to cover the donation amount. Origin Foundation will match donations up to $8,000 per person per year.

How does pre-tax giving work?

A workplace giving donation is deducted from your pre-tax salary. Tax is calculated each pay less your donation, which means you pay less tax. The benefits of pre-tax giving are:

  • Reduce your taxable income as donations are deducted from your pre-tax salary.
  • Receive a tax deduction without the need to keep receipts for tax purposes.
  • Spread donations over the year, rather than making a larger one-off donation.

How does it affect my tax?

Give2 makes the donation process easier and more effective. It simplifies your tax deduction claim, and delivers the benefit of tax deductibility to you immediately, rather than waiting for tax return time.

The tax deduction you would normally get at the end of the year is brought forward and applied immediately, so you don't have to find receipts for donations at the end of the year.

Your payment summary at the end of the financial year will detail your donations. For more information on how this will affect your tax, visit the Australian Taxation Office website.

What are the giving options?

There are two giving options:

  1. Give once: Make a single donation to the charity or project or a fundraising page of your choice.
  2. Donate regularly: Donate to the same charity or project each pay cycle. You can choose to give to more than one charity.

Are there any administration costs?

You do not pay any administration costs for using Give2. Origin Foundation has a formal partnership with Goodcompany which sees us pay an administrative fee on behalf of our employees who donate.
